It is said that if you were to put a toddler, an apple, and a rabbit in the same room, the young child would eat the apple and pet the rabbit - not the other way around.
In fact, you'd be hard-pressed to find a person who would salivate over fresh roadkill or your pet dog. But because humans have been conditioned to believe that it’s perfectly acceptable to keep a pet cat and eat a pig or cow, few kids have made the connection that what they slather in condiments at the dinner table was once a living animal.
Those that have, however, usually eschew meat right away. Kasia Stepkowska’s four-year-old son is one such individual.
The activist told Bored Panda:
“One day my 4-year-old refused to have a pork for dinner after he gotten to know it was a part of a pig. He said:”I do not eat animals, they are my friends”.Inspired to show that humans are naturally inclined to befriend animals rather than eat them, Stepkowska started a project in which she asked kids to eat live animals. The photos which were captured in the bold social experiment speak for themselves.
We adults do not look at the piece of meat this way anymore. We do not see an animal on our plate – we simply see a steak… So who is right?”
