The Blue Lagoon geothermal hot-spring in Iceland is a real healing dreamworld

This place is beyond amazing

It seems like Iceland becomes more and more enchanting each time I hear about it, and after seeing how amazing this place is in particular, it’s definitely on my bucket list.

Aside from the breath taking beauty and tranquility it embodies, Iceland’s Blue Lagoon (named 1 of the 25 wonders of the world by National Geographic) is reputed to be rich in minerals like silica and sulfur, making it a real life “fountain of youth”.

The water temperature in the bathing and swimming area of the lagoon ranges between 37 to 39 °C, which is about 99 to 102 °F.

The Blue Lagoon also operates a research and development facility dedicated to helping find cures for different skin ailments using their super mineral rich water.

According to Wikipedia;

“The lagoon is a man-made lagoon which is fed by the water output of the nearby geothermal power plant Svartsengi and is renewed every two days. Superheated water is vented from the ground near a lava flow and used to run turbines that generate electricity. After going through the turbines, the steam and hot water passes through a heat exchanger to provide heat for a municipal water heating system. Then the water is fed into the lagoon for recreational and medicinal users to bathe in.”

 As you can see it is also rich in beautiful scenery…
