THIS is The REAL Meaning Behind The Legendary “Purple Rain”

Do you know what the REAL meaning behind "Purple Rain" is?

On the 21st of April one of the greatest musicians of all time, Prince, passed away.

Although arguably his greatest songs ever, "Purple Rain" was widely misunderstood because it seems to carry a deeper hidden message.

The song was actually created after the movie, which has the same name. If you haven’t seen it yet, you need to watch it. The movie starred prince and won a Grammy award and an Oscar.  In the movie it explains the meaning behind the story.
The song was actually about his father who used to physically abuse and beat him in an effort to get him to act according to his views of what is right and wrong, as prince was caught in bed with a girl at the age of 12.

The concept of “purple rain” was his eyes being black, blue and purple. Him crying was the rain and him speaking about not hurting anyone, was him not wanting to hurt his father or the girl and he didn't mean to cause any trouble.

In time though, it would be discovered that “Purple Rain” had an even deeper meaning but could still be related to this personal experience of his.

according to Prince the meaning meant that;

"When there's blood in the sky - red and blue= purple... purple rain pertains to the end of the world and being with the one you love and letting your faith/god guide you through the purple rain."

This has been interpreted as meaning that it represents the desire to be free from uneasy and restless feelings, like anxiety, discontent, boredom, etc. An undesirable emotion that arises out of a situation in which you meant well, or were acting innocently, but instead everything goes bad. A feeling all of us prefer to avoid and escape because it brings with it so much drama and pain... the feeling of the end of the world but eventually you get to a place, where you are at peace and you know that you are gonna get through this difficult time... you are gonna get through the "purple rain".

So next time you going through the struggles of life, remember his powerful lyrics and how they can be applied to your own life (his performance can be found below as well);

I never meant to cause you any sorrow
I never meant to cause you any pain
I only wanted one time to see you laughing
I only want to see you laughing in the purple rain

Purple rain Purple rain
Purple rain Purple rain
Purple rain Purple rain

I only want to see you bathing in the purple rain

I never wanted to be your weekend lover
I only wanted to be some kind of friend
Baby I could never steal you from another
It's such a shame our friendship had to end

Purple rain Purple rain
Purple rain Purple rain
Purple rain Purple rain

I only want to see you underneath the purple rain

Honey I know, I know, I know times are changing
It's time we all reach out for something new
That means you too
You say you want a leader
But you can't seem to make up your mind
I think you better close it
And let me guide you to the purple rain

Purple rain Purple rain
Purple rain Purple rain

If you know what I'm singing about up here
C'mon raise your hand

Purple rain Purple rain

I only want to see you, only want to see you
In the purple rain
