We’ve all heard it before; Animal milk has been paraded to society as the go-to source for calcium by the dairy industry, but as it turns out according to well documented research, milk is bad for you. In this article we provide you with sourced studies and hard facts.
What Milk Does to Your Health
A Swedish medical study demonstrated that women who consume large amounts of dairy milk daily are more likely to fracturing their bones than those who drank little or no milk.
According to Thomas Campbell, MD of T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies, “higher dairy intake has been linked to increased risk of prostate cancer“.
3. Food Allergies
According to FARE (Food, Allergy, Research & Education), “allergy to cow’s milk is the most common food allergy in infants and young children”. Symptoms can range from mild to extreme. So pay attention to how you and your children react to milk.
Multiple studies have definitely shown that the consumption of cow’s milk is linked to an increase and prevalency and of acne in both sexes.
Just one single serving of milk can contain as much as 24 mg of cholesterol, while vegan food has no cholesterol. Watch the video below for more information:
6. Ovarian cancer
A Swedish study revealed that women who consume four or more servings of dairy products a day were twice as likely to develop ovarian cancer compared with those who consumed two or less servings of dairy products a day.
Cows are often times pumped full of nasty antibiotics against their will. This unethical practice is giving rise to antibiotic-resistant bacteria, which has the potential to decrease the effectiveness of antibiotics used on humans and create a massive public concern.
8. Saturated fat
Just one single serving of whole milk can contain over 20 percent of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of saturated fat. However, even 1 percent milk has 8 percent of the RDA which is extremely high. If you consume three basic servings of whole milk, you are already at 60 percent for the entire day. Bare in mind that the RDA is actually already higher than we would recommend.
A large study of more than 12,000 children revealed that the more milk they drank, the more weight they gained. Ironically, skim and 1 percent milk lead to even more weight gain than drinking 2 percent or whole milk. The study also discovered that replacing soda with milk did not lead to weight loss either.
10. Bone loss
Instead of promoting bone health as the popular myth goes, animal protein in dairy products can actually have a calcium-leaching effect, thereby destroying bone health.
11. Damages the environment
Not only is milk a major health risk, it is also harmful to the environment.
