The Tragically Heartbreaking And Uplifting Life Of Keanu Reeves Revealed

Keanu Reeves’ first major breakthrough in Hollywood was in the 1995 action thriller movie Speed, and he was later immortalized in his role as Neo in the Matrix. Although his films always end with a happy ending, unfortunately Keanu’s story has been rather heart breaking.

Now 51 years old, Keanu’s life has been one of great tragedy, that would seem more befitting for a movie character than an actual Hollywood actor. Yet despite each setback he has heroically faced, he has kept pushing forward refusing to allow the difficulties of life to bring him down.

When Keanu was just three years old his father left their family because of a divorce. They still stayed in touch for a few years, but after moving from city to city with his mother, they eventually fell out of contact. Keanu went on to attend four different high schools and struggled with dyslexia, which made his education more challenging than it is for most, both in terms of learning and getting along socially with the other kids.

Eventually he left high school without earning his diploma because it became intolerable for him to bear the suffering and monotony of the education system. Though determination, he has become a dedicated reader today.

At the age of 23, his closest friend River Phoenix (pictured above on the left) died of a drug overdose. During a Reddit AMA Keanu explained that:

“He was a remarkable human person and actor. We got along very well, and I miss him. I think of him often.”

In 1998, Keanu met Jennifer Syme and the two fell instantly in love. The following year, Jennifer fell pregnant with their daughter. Sadly, after just eight months, the child was stillborn. Devastated by the event, their relationship fell apart and the two parted ways.

18 months later in a true tragedy, Jennifer would die in a terrible car accident. In 2006, Reeves told Parade Magazine, “Grief changes shape, but it never ends.”

It is through these great struggles that many believe Keanu has developed his great character. He’s well known in Hollywood for being incredibly charitable. After the exceptional success of the Matrix series, Keanu dedicated millions of dollars to the special effects and makeup staff. He has also taken pay cuts on the films The Replacements and The Devil’s Advocates just so he could get the opportunity to work with Hollywood actors Gene Hackman and Al Pacino. What a humble human being.

Redditor Kahi made the following comment about the Sad Keanu meme:

“A family friend builds movie sets, doesn’t design, is one of the poor dudes that just builds. Anyways he worked on the set for the Matrix and Keanu heard about family trouble he was having and gave him a $20,000 Christmas bonus to help him out. He also was one of the only people on the set that genuinely wanted to know people’s names, would say hello and mean it, and would talk to people as if they were his peers and not below him just because they were practically making nothing to build a set. I’ve never heard anyone say Keanu is a douche, seems like the nicest person in Hollywood from a second hand experience.”

Keanu is someone who is actually deserving of his fame. While the rest of Hollywood act like entitled narcissistic brats, this man quietly and humbly lives his life spreading positive vibes even though he has been the victim of a lot of negativity.

Thank you Keanu for being reminding us all what it means to be a human being!
