Back in 1969, close to half a million music lovers and got together at a dairy farm in New York for the legendary 3-day Woodstock Festival to celebrate life, unity, happiness and peace.

Advertised as “An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music”, 32 bands, including legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix, along with other legends, such as The Who and Carlos Santana, played for crowd with passion through rain and sunshine.

Flower children, hippies, rebels, muddy fields, free thinkers, naked people swimming and everything in between, it was all there. Fortunately, two LIFE photographers Bill Eppridge and John Dominis were there to capture these incredible memories!
